Their mom and I met in nursery school and it is amazing that she and I have not only remained friends through the years and many geographical miles separating us, but also that nearly forty years later, we ended up living two blocks away from each other.
The cherry on top has been that our boys are like peas in a pod. (There's a new boy on the scene who is rapidly growing into his role of "whatcha doing?" and "me too" as he morphs from baby to toddler.)
This weekend we celebrated Owen's birthday. It is wonderful to be a part of their growing up in this way. We had a lot of fun.
(my heart danced a little when O darted to sit next to Gem despite the lack of a place setting there...his school friends followed suit and sat on the other side of him...O was undeterred by the party staff who tried to convince him to move over to where there were place settings.)

Jelly Bellies make a most excellent party favor :-)
