Day at the museum

Well, the 10am arrival to the American Museum of Natural History didn't happen.  Instead, the kids slept as they needed to, we didn't rush, had a lovely GFCF picnic lunch at my mom's rather than the AMNH cafeteria, experienced a subway adventure which took us up to 125th Street, and we found ourselves climbing the steps of the museum around 2:15pm.

V and Cap took in a movie in the planetarium while the boys and I romped around the Space area (which, frankly, they found pretty boring).  We spent the rest of our time checking out the dioramas (African Mammals, Ocean Life, North American Mammals, South American Peoples).

We walked through the darkening park back to Baba's in 20 degree temps...the light show of the stark, yet delicate, tree branches in relief against the rapidly shifting colors and hues of the evening sky took the bitter edge off the cold night air...and here, a cozy end to a mind-opening afternoon (and the dinner she had ready for us?  Love my mom's cooking so much!)
