Vanessa on the ferry.
Yesterday, V and Cap took a ferry from Liberty State Park to Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty. The kids and I dropped them off at 10:00 am and off they went. (Pics by Cap.)

In the meantime, the boy children and I did a bit of gift shopping, came home for lunch, then headed over to art class. There they painted their clay boxes and "painted some stripes" while discussing and defining primary and secondary colors.

Gem's tri-colored box (it's gold on the outside).
While they were finishing up in class, I got the call that Cap and V would be ready to be picked up. We'd just make it if we left right after class let out. So, we did just that.
Once reunited, we decided to drive over to Mitsuwa, a super Japanese market in Edgewater. It was a natural halfway point between us and dinner.
we picked up sushi grade tuna and salmon for V's last dinner at home on Friday night.
and picked out some sweet treats.
and checked out the plastic food displays in the food court.

We took in some fresh air behind the market. The sunny blue skies rapidly clouded over as the snow system began its approach into our area.

Ginger Ale flavored Kit Kat. (I kid you not.)
Mitsuwa sweets...they're grrrreat!
We then drove on to Teaneck for some kaiten sushi. My belated birthday dinner. As always, it was a lot of fun.

A very full day...of new experience, of sharing fun, of creativity and rhythm...of love and memory-making supreme.
I feel teary anticipating V's departure. Oh how I know it will be deeply felt by all. No worry's about a delayed call. You are always close by.
ReplyDeletesending love,
B
Oh how you are going to miss her!
ReplyDeleteLove the Statue of Liberty pictures. The boy wants to go, so I may take your tip and go in winter!
Oh good, you were able to post!
ReplyDeleteYes. It's going to be heartbreaking to say good-bye on Sunday. But the huge positives outweigh the sadness.
There are actually more pics of the statue...she makes a naturally gorgeous subject, inside and out :-)
Yes, go in winter! We had a similar experience at the Empire State building. No lines, and the air is nice and clear (though cold, too, of course :-)
