Vanessa chose sushi for her last dinner at home. (We would be at Ellie's birthday party in Queens for V's last night.) This was a great choice for Gem, who loves sushi, too.
Making it yourself means creating sushi you know you like, or trying out some new flavor combos conjured by your imagination. Gem rolled himself a salmon-ham-cuke roll. And found it to be quite tasty. "It's soft and crunchy at the same time."
Vanessa also requested brownies which we enjoyed while watching the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics together as a family. It was a quiet and cozy way to end a very full day.
